Tell me why penpals anime openign1/20/2024 ![]() ![]() On my first time riding the Shinkansen across Japan by myself, I struck up a conversation with the person sitting next to me, partially as an excuse to practice my Japanese, and partially out of genuine conversation as to what she was doing with her hands (turned out she was doing piano practice on the seat’s fold-out tray). I know we both told each other a few things we never told anyone else because we were a world apart. ![]() We were the same age and I remember once we were both out of high school we stopped with the frequent emails and writing the letters completely but I will always remember that time in high school sharing about our high school days. We just spent a lot of time talking about mundane high school/teenage stuff but enjoyed hearing each others stories. I remember learning about Purikura or sticker pictures from her from her first letter and she included some in it.įunny thing was we had nothing in common with each other! I am a huge nerd liking anime and video games while she was into fashion. Crazy to think when we first met we were in high school and now she has a kid that will be heading into high school soon. For years we would email each other at least once a week and send letters a couple times a year. ![]() We started off by writing real letters and emailing each other. It has been almost 20 years since I had my first penpal with a Japanese friend I met from some random penpal website website in the early 2000s. Did anyone ever have a penpal growing up? Do you still talk to them now? Or do you have any foreign friends that you met here on AN that you sent some mail to? ![]()
